Alabama Power Barry Steam Plant |
|
Dearborn Midwest Conveyor Company was issued a purchase order by Southern Company Alabama Power Barry Steam Plant to replace the existing underground reclaim system with a state of the art above ground reclaim and stacking system.
The Hendrik Group was issued the order for (5) five 54” air supported belt conveyors (ASBC) and (1) one of these were installed on the Kolman Conveyor Corporation radial mast stacker which was a first.
Alabama Power specified DuraWear Corporation to line their Skirtboards with 92% alumina ceramic tile and Xylethon liners for their transfer chutes to eliminate wear and pluggage issues the plant had seen in the past. |

ETEC – DuraWear manufactures Alotec-92 ceramic liners in Birmingham, AL. At major utilities DuraWear installs these liners to significantly improve life of CE Mills. The areas that are most affected by wear is in the fan housing (exhauster), the mill cone and the fuel piping. DuraWear provides a unique approach to lining the fan housing, either in their shop or in the field, by supplying Alotec-92 in precut ship-lap forms that are welded directly to the fan housing or to a bolt in liner plate. This technique provides a triple attachment to the fans periphery and incorporates a high impact and wear resistant fused 92% alumina ceramic. Most customers have the housings and cones shipped directly to the DuraWear shop for installation and then DuraWear delivers the finished product to our customer site. The fuel elbows and cones use precut ceramic tiles that are drawn out in AutoCAD as to prevent side gaps and excellent fits. These installation methods allow plants to meet and exceed the new standards for 5 year life. Compared to all metals, ceramic has the best return on investment of all liners available in the market.
